Biography
George Washington was born in 1732 to a wealthy family in Virginia. He later became an American general and commander in chief of the colonial armies during the revolutionary war (1775-1783). After that he became the first president of the United States of America (1789-1797). He died in 1799.


Contribution
George Washington helped shape America to the way it is today. He played a huge role in the fight to free America and its citizens from British control. He helped establish a firm government and improved on how the government worked. He also established are still in progress to day such as the Secretary of State and many other positions.
